0:00 SEO Cost vs Return for Restoration Companies
If you’re spending $2,000 a month on SEO and pulling in $60,000 in new jobs from it, that’s a 30 to one return. That’s the real number we see on the better end of this channel. And today I’m going to show you exactly how to think about it for your company. My name is Jeremy Ashburn. I run PushLeads. We do SEO specifically for restoration companies. This video breaks down what SEO actually costs, what it actually returns, and the mistakes that kill the ROI before it ever gets going. Let’s get into it.

0:32 What Restoration SEO Actually Costs
The range is wide. I see restoration companies paying anywhere from $500 a month to $5,000 a month. The $500 end is usually a generalist agency that does the same thing for a pizza shop, a dentist, and you. They’re not wrong about SEO. They’re just not right about your industry. The $1,200 to $2,500 range is where most serious restoration specific SEO work lives. That covers local optimization, content, link building, and reporting. The $3,000 to $5,000 range is usually Metro markets with heavy competition or companies running SEO alongside a full content strategy. For this video, I’m going to use $1,500 a month as the baseline number because it’s the most common starting point for a company serious enough to track results.

This is part of our restoration SEO guide.

1:20 Why Restoration Job Values Change the Math
Most service businesses have average job values in the hundreds. Restoration is different. A water damage job runs $2 ,000 to $8,000 on average. A fire damage claim can be $20,000, $40,000 or more. A commercial loss can be six figures. You only need a handful of organic leads per month to make the math work dramatically in your favor. That’s why the restoration vertical is one of the strongest cases for SEO investment that I know of in the trades. The keyword restoration company marketing gets searched 144 times a month and sits at a $61 cost per click in paid search. That tells you there’s real money chasing this traffic. When you earn that traffic organically, you’re not paying $61 per click.

2:08 Months One Through Three Investment Period
Month one through three of SEO for a restoration company is almost always an investment period, not a return period. You’re building technical foundations, fixing crawl issues, cleaning up your Google Business Profile, getting your location pages structured correctly, and earning the first round of citations and links. Real movement and rankings typically starts in months three through five calls and form fills from organic search usually become meaningful around month four or five. So in a typical six month window, you’ve spent roughly $9,000 at $1,500 per month. What comes back in that window in my experience is variable, but the pattern is consistent. Companies that started with a thin web presence often close two to four inbound organic jobs by month six at an average job value of $4,000. That’s $8,000 to $16,000 in return value. You’re close to break even or slightly profitable by month six if you’re tracking it honestly.

3:09 Months Six Through Twelve Compounding Returns
Month six through 12 is where the compounding happens, rankings that took four months to build now generate consistent traffic month after month without you paying for each click. In the second half of the year, companies tracking organic leads seriously start seeing five to 12 organic inquiries a month from SEO targeted pages at a 30% close rate and a $4,000 average job that’s six to $15,000 in monthly return from a channel that costs $1,500 a month. At 12 months in, total spend is $18,000. Total return at conservative numbers is often $40,000 to $75 ,000. That’s a 2.2 to one up to a four to one return at the conservative end. The 30 to one number I mentioned at the start is real on the higher performing end, especially for companies in less competitive markets or with strong existing domain authority.

4:06 High-Intent Keywords That Drive Real Calls
Not all traffic is equal. This is where a lot of restoration SEO campaigns fail. They chase volume instead of intent. The searches that turn into calls have words like cost near me, emergency or specific damage types in them. Water damage restoration cost gets 299 searches a month and carries a $28 cost per click value. That’s a buyer. Someone searching that is estimating whether they can afford help. Fire damage restoration SEO gets 295 searches at a $30 cost per click. Disaster restoration SEO gets 272 searches at $36 a click. Pages optimized for those specific phrases pull calls with high intent. Volume chasing keywords like restoration company by itself, pull researchers, competitors and job seekers, target the right ones.

4:59 Page Structure That Wins Restoration Traffic
The core of restoration SEO is not blog posts about water damage history. It’s service area pages, damage type pages and emergency service pages that answer the question the person is already asking when they search, a typical structure that works looks like this, a home page that targets your primary city and primary service. Individual service pages for water damage, fire damage, mold and storm. Location pages for each city or county you serve. A Google Business Profile that’s actively maintained and matches your site, supporting content that answers cost questions, process questions and insurance questions. Water damage restoration cost is 299 searches a month. A page that honestly answers that question with real ranges and what effects price earns trust before the call even happens.

5:53 Five Mistakes That Kill SEO ROI
That page also ranks mistake one stopping at month three. The investment period looks like failure if you’re only checking rankings. Traffic and calls come later stopping at month three means you paid for all the foundation and got none of the return. Mistake two, ignoring Google Business Profile. In every Metro market I work in, the map pack drives more calls than organic blue links for restoration. If your GBP is neglected, your SEO spend is leaking. Mistake three, not tracking where calls come from. If you don’t have call tracking tied to organic search, you’re flying blind on return. You might be getting SEO driven calls and attributing them to word of mouth. Mistake four, using a generalist agency. Disaster restoration marketing gets 310 searches a month with a $51 cost per click. A generalist doesn’t know what that number means. A restoration specific SEO partner does. Mistake five, optimizing for the wrong cities. Your best target is the city where you close the most profitable jobs, not necessarily your headquarters city, build pages for revenue geography, not vanity geography.

7:03 Realistic Twelve-Month Case Study
Let me walk you through a realistic example. A water damage and fire restoration company, serving a midsize metro area, starting point a five page website, no location pages, GBP mostly empty. Month one through two, technical fixes, GBP build out, core service pages created. Month three through four. First rankings appear for long tail searches. Two organic calls come in, one closes. Job value, $3,200. Month five through six, rankings grow, map pack visibility starts. Four more organic inquiries, two close. Combined job value, $9,400. Months seven through 12. Consistent map pack and page one presents for water damage and fire damage in the primary city and three surrounding areas. Organic inquiries per month, average eight. Close rate holds at 30%. Average job value stays near $4,000. Six months of returns at that rate, roughly $57,600. Total 12 month SEO spend, $18,000. Total 12 month return from organic, roughly $68,000 in closed job value. Net return, $50,000. Return on investment, roughly $3.8 to $1. That is a conservative, trackable version of what restoration SEO can do when it’s built correctly and given time to compound.

8:31 Three Progress Signals to Track by Month Four
You should be able to see progress on three things by month four. First, rankings. Your primary service plus city combination should be moving. Not necessarily page one yet, but measurably improving from where you started. Second, Google Business Profile impressions. Your GBP should be getting more views month over month. That’s a leading indicator before calls start. Third, organic sessions in Google Search Console. If organic traffic is flat through month five, something is wrong with the strategy or the execution. If all three of those are moving, you’re on track. If any of them are flat after 90 days, ask your agency to explain why.

9:10 Next Steps and Free Visibility Audit
If you’re paying for SEO and don’t know your organic lead count, that’s the first thing to fix. Set up call tracking, connect Search Console, and get a baseline. If you’re not doing SEO yet and you’re paying per click for water damage leads, run the math. Google Ads Water Restoration has 233 searches a month at a $15 average cost per click in that keyword neighborhood. That spend adds up. Organic doesn’t charge you per click once you’ve earned the rank. The free visibility tear down we offer looks at your current rankings, your GBP setup, your campaign gives you a real number on where organic traffic could be for your company.
