Local SEO for Home Service Contractors: Easy Steps

Key Takeaways

Local SEO for home-service contractors comes down to four repeatable steps: finding the right search phrases, optimizing a Google Business Profile, building keyword-focused website pages, and creating consistent citations across business directories. Most local competitors skip at least two of these steps entirely, which means completing all four gives any small business a measurable ranking advantage without spending money on paid ads.

  • Keyword research starts free with tools like Ubersuggest, which surfaces related search phrases such as “seo services near me” from a single seed term.
  • A Google Business Profile supports up to 10 categories, and filling every category slot increases the number of searches a listing can appear for.
  • Website pages need the target keyword in headings (H1, H2) and woven naturally into body copy so Google can match the page to the right search queries.
  • Citations are any mention of a business name, address, and phone number on an external site, and all citations must use identical formatting to avoid confusing search engines.
  • Free citation directories include Facebook, Yelp, Bing Places, and Foursquare, each taking two to five minutes to complete.
  • Weekly Google Business Profile posts that link to a blog article on the main website create a content loop that reinforces local relevance signals.
  • Five-star review responses signal to Google that active engagement is happening on the profile, which supports higher map-pack rankings.

What Local SEO Actually Does for a Home-Service Business

Local SEO is the process of adjusting a business listing and website so Google ranks that business higher in the map-pack results when nearby customers search for a specific service. When those adjustments work, more people see the listing, click through, and call. A properly optimized profile for a contractor in Asheville, NC, for example, can generate two to three inbound calls per week from organic search alone, with no ad spend involved.

The mechanics are straightforward. Google reads signals: the words inside a Business Profile, the keywords on a website, the consistency of business information across the web, and the number and quality of reviews. Each signal either raises or lowers a listing’s position in search results. The good news for small businesses is that most local competitors leave the majority of these signals completely unconfigured. A plumbing company that fills out every Business Profile field, builds a handful of location pages, and lists itself on a dozen free directories is already ahead of most of its market.

The four-step framework covered below does not require technical expertise or a large budget. It does require a consistent time investment, usually a few hours to set up and then a manageable maintenance routine each month. Contractors who work through each step systematically tend to see movement in local rankings within three to six months, though timelines vary by market size and competition level.

What are the steps to do local SEO yourself?

The four steps to do local SEO yourself are: find relevant keywords using a free tool, optimize every field of the Google Business Profile, build keyword-targeted pages on the business website, and create consistent citations on free directories. Completing all four steps in sequence gives Google the information it needs to rank a business for the searches that matter most to potential customers.

Which step should a contractor start with?

Keyword research should come first because every other step depends on knowing which search phrases real customers actually use. Starting with a tool like Ubersuggest, a contractor types in a broad service term, such as “roof repair,” and the tool returns a list of related phrases people search for, including “roof repair near me,” “emergency roof repair,” or “roof repair cost.” That list becomes the foundation for everything that follows: the words added to the Business Profile, the titles written for website pages, and the descriptions entered in directory listings.

Picking three to seven core phrases at the start is enough. Going broader too early creates confusion about which pages should target which terms. A roofing contractor in Asheville might focus on “roof repair Asheville,” “roof replacement Asheville NC,” and “emergency roofing Asheville” before expanding. This narrow focus makes it easier for Google to understand exactly what the business does and where it serves customers.

How long does keyword research take without paying for tools?

A basic keyword list for a home-service business takes roughly 30 to 60 minutes using only the free tier of Ubersuggest. The free version limits daily searches but provides enough data for a small contractor to build a usable keyword map. Google’s own search bar also helps: typing a service name followed by a city name and noting the autocomplete suggestions shows exactly what real users are searching. Both methods together are sufficient to start the optimization process without any subscription cost.

How to Set Up and Optimize a Google Business Profile

Setting up a Google Business Profile correctly means filling in every available field, selecting up to 10 relevant service categories, writing keyword-rich descriptions, adding photos, and enabling the review response feature. A profile with all fields complete outperforms an incomplete profile in local map-pack rankings because Google has more data to match against relevant search queries.

What categories should a home-service contractor choose on the profile?

Google allows one primary category and up to nine additional categories on a Business Profile. The primary category should match the core service exactly, for example “Plumber” or “Electrician.” Secondary categories should cover every related service the business actually provides. A plumbing company might add “Drain Cleaning Service,” “Water Heater Installation Service,” and “Sewer Line Service” as secondary options. Each additional category expands the set of searches the listing can appear for. Leaving category slots empty is a missed opportunity that most competitors take advantage of simply by not knowing the 10-category limit exists.

Where do keywords fit inside a Business Profile?

Keywords belong in the business description, the services section, and the Q and A section of the profile. In the services tab, each service can include a short description of up to 300 characters. Writing a description that includes a location-specific phrase, such as “Asheville HVAC repair,” directly inside that field tells Google what the business does and where it operates. For example, writing “Push Leads is a local Asheville SEO company” inside a services description is a direct, factual signal. The same approach applies to any contractor: “Apex Roofing provides roof repair and roof replacement services in Asheville, NC and surrounding areas.” That level of specificity is what Google’s ranking algorithm looks for, and most businesses do not bother writing it.

How do weekly posts and reviews affect rankings?

Google Business Profile posts function similarly to social media updates but live directly on the search result page. Posting once a week, linking each post to a relevant blog article on the business website, creates an ongoing signal that the profile is actively managed. Google appears to favor active profiles over dormant ones in competitive local markets. Review responses add another layer of activity. When a business owner responds to a review, Google sees a conversation happening, which supports engagement signals. Sending customers a direct review link, which can be found inside the Business Profile dashboard, removes friction and tends to increase the number of reviews a business receives over time. For more detail on fully configuring this asset, the Google Business Profile optimization guide covers the complete setup process.

Building Website Pages That Rank for Local Service Searches

A website page ranks for a local service search when it uses the target keyword in the page title, in at least one heading, and naturally throughout the body copy, while also specifying the city or service area the business covers. A single well-constructed service page targeting “water heater replacement Asheville NC” can generate consistent inbound leads at zero ongoing cost once it ranks.

What does a properly optimized service page look like?

An optimized local service page includes the keyword in the HTML title tag, in the H1 heading at the top of the page, and in at least one H2 subheading further down. The body copy repeats the keyword and its variations a handful of times without forcing it unnaturally into sentences. A page for “affordable HVAC repair Asheville” would have a title like “Affordable HVAC Repair in Asheville, NC,” an opening paragraph that states the service and location clearly, and several sections covering what the service includes, why local homeowners need it, and how to schedule an appointment. The page should be at least 400 words to give Google enough content to evaluate.

Can adding video to a service page help with rankings?

Uploading a short video to YouTube and embedding it on the corresponding service page adds a content element that many competitors skip. The YouTube video title should include the target keyword, such as “Roof Inspection Asheville NC,” and the description should include a link back to the website. Google owns YouTube, and embedding YouTube videos on a page appears to contribute to time-on-page metrics, which are associated with higher rankings. Even a two-minute walkthrough video shot on a smartphone, showing the service being performed, qualifies for this purpose. The video does not need to be professionally produced.

How does internal linking help a website rank locally?

Internal links connect one page of a website to another using descriptive anchor text. A blog post about “signs your water heater needs replacement” can link to the water heater replacement service page using anchor text like “water heater replacement in Asheville.” This tells Google that the service page is the authoritative destination for that topic on the site and passes ranking signals from the blog post to the service page. For contractors writing regular blog content, adding two or three internal links per article costs nothing and steadily strengthens the most important pages on the site over time.

What Citations Are and Why Consistency Matters

A citation is any online mention of a business’s name, address, and phone number, and consistent citations across multiple directories tell Google that the business information is reliable and accurate. Inconsistent formatting, such as using “Suite 203” on one directory and “Ste 203” on another, introduces ambiguity that can suppress local rankings.

Why does the exact format of a name, address, and phone number matter?

Google cross-references business information across dozens of websites to verify that a business is legitimate and located where it claims to be. If a contractor lists their address as “412 Merrimon Ave” on their website but “412 Merrimon Avenue” on Yelp and “412 Merrimon Ave Suite 5” on Bing, those three versions create three different data points that Google must reconcile. Small formatting differences compound when a business has 20 or 30 citations. Auditing all existing citations before building new ones, and standardizing on one exact format, removes this confusion. The format used on the Google Business Profile should be the master version applied everywhere else.

Which free directories give the most local SEO value?

The directories with the highest value for a home-service contractor are Google Business Profile itself, Yelp, Bing Places, Facebook Business Page, Foursquare, Apple Maps, Angi (formerly Angie’s List), and the Better Business Bureau. Each of these platforms has significant web authority, and a citation on any one of them carries more weight than a citation on a low-traffic directory. Creating a profile on each of these major directories takes between two and five minutes per platform, requires only a business email address to get started, and costs nothing. Many contractors have never completed this step, which means doing it once creates a lasting competitive advantage.

Are citations the same as backlinks?

Citations on major directories often include a link back to the business website, which classifies them as backlinks as well as citations. A Yelp listing, for example, typically includes a “Business Website” field that links directly to the contractor’s site. Google treats backlinks from established directories as endorsements of the business, which contributes to overall domain authority. The dual benefit of citations, confirming business information and providing a backlink, makes directory submissions one of the highest-return tasks in a DIY local SEO effort.

How Keywords Connect Every Layer of Local SEO

Keywords are the connective tissue between a Business Profile, a website, and directory listings. When the same relevant phrases appear consistently across all three layers, Google receives a coherent signal that the business is the right result for those searches.

What happens when a business targets too many keywords at once?

Targeting too many keywords without a clear structure results in thin pages that do not rank well for any single term. A contractor who tries to optimize one page for “plumber Asheville,” “drain cleaning Asheville,” “water heater repair Asheville,” and “sewer line replacement Asheville” at the same time will likely rank for none of them because the page sends diluted signals. The better approach is to create one dedicated page for each service, each targeting one primary keyword and two or three variations. This structure, called a silo or a content cluster, is how large contractor websites with dozens of ranked pages are built over time, starting with the highest-priority service terms first.

How does a contractor know if their keywords are working?

Free tools provide basic ranking feedback without requiring a paid subscription. Google Search Console shows which search queries are generating impressions and clicks for a website at no cost. Ubersuggest’s free tier shows position data for a limited number of keywords per day. Searching the target keyword in an incognito browser window while located in the target city gives a rough indication of current ranking position, though this method is not perfectly precise. Ranking movement typically becomes visible within 60 to 90 days of making on-page changes, and meaningful traffic increases usually follow three to six months after consistent optimization work begins. A more detailed breakdown of what to expect is available in the local schema markup and SEO timeline guide, which covers technical signals that reinforce keyword work.

Common Mistakes That Slow Down Local SEO Progress

The most common mistakes that slow local SEO results are leaving the Google Business Profile incomplete, publishing website pages without location-specific keywords, ignoring citation consistency, and not responding to reviews. Each of these mistakes sends weak or contradictory signals to Google, which results in lower rankings than a competitor who avoids them.

What does an incomplete Google Business Profile cost in rankings?

An incomplete profile with missing categories, no service descriptions, and no photos competes at a disadvantage against any profile that has those elements filled in. Google’s own documentation states that complete and accurate information makes a business more likely to appear in local search results. In practice, a profile missing its secondary categories cannot appear in searches for those secondary services, which directly limits the volume of leads the listing generates. A roofing contractor with only “Roofing Contractor” as a category will not appear when someone searches “gutter installation near me” unless “Gutter Installation Service” is also listed as a category.

How does ignoring reviews hurt local rankings?

Review count and average rating are confirmed local ranking factors according to Google’s local ranking documentation. A business with 8 reviews at 3.9 stars competes poorly against a business with 47 reviews at 4.8 stars, even if every other ranking factor is equal. Ignoring reviews entirely, meaning not asking customers for reviews and not responding to the ones received, allows competitors who actively cultivate reviews to widen that gap month by month. The fix is straightforward: generate a direct review link from the Business Profile dashboard, send it to customers after completing a job, and respond to every review, both positive and negative, within 48 hours.

Is it a problem to have duplicate Business Profile listings?

Duplicate listings split the signals that should be going to one profile across two or more, weakening each one. This sometimes happens when a business owner creates a new profile without realizing an old one exists, or when Google auto-generates a listing from data found online. Checking for duplicates by searching the business name in Google Maps and then requesting removal or merging of any duplicates through the Google Business Profile dashboard resolves the issue. Running this check before beginning any other optimization saves weeks of wasted effort spent building up the wrong profile.

How Schema Markup Adds a Technical SEO Layer

Schema markup is a block of structured code added to a website that explicitly tells search engines what a business does, where it is located, what its hours are, and what services it provides. Unlike regular page text, schema communicates in a format designed specifically for machines, which reduces any ambiguity in how Google interprets the content.

Does a contractor need to know how to code to add schema markup?

No coding experience is required to add basic schema markup. WordPress plugins such as Rank Math and Yoast SEO include schema configuration options that generate the code automatically based on settings the business owner fills in through a visual interface. For contractors on platforms like Wix or Squarespace, some schema can be added through custom code sections, or through third-party apps available in those platforms’ marketplaces. The LocalBusiness schema type is the most important one for home-service contractors because it lets a business specify its name, address, phone number, service area, and hours in a format that Google reads directly. A full walkthrough of the implementation process is available in the complete guide to local schema markup implementation.

How does schema markup relate to the other three steps?

Schema markup does not replace keyword research, Business Profile optimization, or citation building. It reinforces all three by giving Google a machine-readable confirmation of information that also appears in human-readable text on the page. When a service page says “we provide roof repair in Asheville, NC” in its body copy, and the LocalBusiness schema on that same page specifies the city as Asheville and the service as roof repair, Google receives the same information twice in two different formats. That redundancy increases Google’s confidence that the business is a relevant result for that search, which can contribute to higher rankings in competitive local markets.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to see results from local SEO?

Most home-service contractors see initial ranking movement within 60 to 90 days of completing the four core steps: keyword research, Business Profile optimization, on-page website changes, and citation building. Meaningful increases in calls and form submissions typically take three to six months. Markets with fewer competitors, such as smaller towns with fewer than 10 established competing businesses, may show movement faster. High-competition markets like major metro areas may take six to twelve months before rankings stabilize in a profitable position.

Is local SEO free to do yourself?

The core tactics require no financial investment beyond time. Ubersuggest offers a free tier for keyword research. Creating and optimizing a Google Business Profile is free. Building citations on Yelp, Bing Places, Facebook, and Foursquare costs nothing. WordPress SEO plugins that add schema markup have free versions that cover basic needs. The only costs arise if a contractor hires someone to write content, purchases a premium keyword tool, or outsources citation building to a service. For an estimate of what professional assistance costs, the local agency pricing guide provides typical ranges.

What is the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?

Regular SEO targets keywords that are searched nationally or globally, meaning a website competes with every other site in the country for those terms. Local SEO targets keywords with geographic intent, such as “electrician Asheville NC,” and the results appear in the Google Maps pack alongside the standard organic results. Local SEO also involves the Google Business Profile, citations, and review signals, which do not apply to national SEO campaigns. For a home-service contractor whose customers are all within a specific service area, local SEO is almost always the higher-return investment.

How many citations does a contractor need to rank in the map pack?

There is no fixed citation threshold that guarantees a map-pack ranking because citation count is one of several ranking factors. However, completing the eight to twelve highest-authority directories, including Google Business Profile, Yelp, Bing Places, Facebook, Foursquare, Apple Maps, Angi, and the BBB, covers the most important ground. Beyond those, adding industry-specific directories such as HomeAdvisor or Houzz for general contractors, or Healthgrades for medical services, strengthens the citation profile further. Consistency across all listings is more important than raw count.

Can a contractor do local SEO without a website?

A Google Business Profile alone can generate leads without a website, and many small contractors operate this way initially. However, a website adds ranking signals that the Business Profile cannot replicate: keyword-optimized pages, internal links, schema markup, and blog content. Businesses without a website are also limited in the categories they can target and the search queries they can rank for. Creating a simple five-page website with one page per core service provides enough content to support local SEO well beyond what the Business Profile alone can achieve.

What is the biggest local SEO mistake a home-service contractor makes?

The most common and costly mistake is claiming a Google Business Profile but leaving most fields empty. Many contractors fill in the business name, phone number, and address and stop there. They skip secondary categories, leave service descriptions blank, add no photos, and never respond to reviews. Each of those omissions represents a ranking signal that a more thorough competitor captures. In many local markets, completing the Business Profile fully, without doing anything else, moves a listing from page two of the map pack to page one within 30 to 60 days.

Should a contractor respond to negative reviews?

Yes, responding to negative reviews is important for two reasons. First, Google appears to treat review responses as an engagement signal, regardless of the review’s rating. Second, potential customers read negative reviews and judge the business partly on how it responded. A calm, professional response that acknowledges the customer’s concern and offers a resolution demonstrates reliability. Deleting or ignoring negative reviews is not possible on Google, so response quality is the only variable within the business owner’s control when a negative review appears.

How often should a contractor post on their Google Business Profile?

Posting once per week is a practical frequency that most contractors can maintain. Each post should include a brief description of a service, a tip, or a completed project, along with a link to a relevant page on the business website. Posts expire after seven days for standard update posts, so consistent weekly publishing keeps the profile active at all times. Photo posts and offer posts have different display durations. Linking posts to blog articles on the website creates a traffic loop between the profile and the site, which reinforces both local and organic search signals simultaneously.

Start Ranking in Local Search Before Your Competitors Finish Reading This

The four steps outlined above, keyword research, Google Business Profile optimization, website page building, and citation creation, are available to any home-service contractor with internet access and a few hours of focused work. The barrier is not technical complexity. The barrier is knowing the steps exist and following through on each one. Most local competitors have not completed even two of the four.

A contractor who builds ten Business Profile categories, writes keyword-specific service descriptions, responds to every review, posts weekly updates, creates dedicated service pages targeting location-specific keywords, and lists the business on eight or more high-authority directories will outperform the majority of local competition within one to two quarters of sustained effort.

For contractors who want professional guidance on any of these steps, or who want an expert review of their current local SEO standing, reaching out to PushLeads at pushleads.com provides access to a site audit tool that returns a keyword ranking report by email at no cost. Enter the business website and a target keyword, and the report identifies specific gaps to address first. That is a practical next step available right now.

knows about you jeremy um that i regularly have dreams and sometimes they represent uh some things that happen in the future or just things about people um so it’s just a random thing that happens so i’m secretly like psychic i guess okay do these dreams come true is that what you you mean some of the time yeah well you gotta get together with kelly i know and uh what is your burning desire um my burning desire is to um you know build up my business and have multiple um you know people working for me um i appreciate you being here keaton keaton you’re one of the two different people that i i’ve been you know getting up to speed and bringing on board so just to grow my business and provide for my family and what were your previous jobs so originally i started out way back in mills river as at a bus boy way back started out with there at age 14 and really have done different things like stock stocking restaurants stuff like that my most interesting job was working at yellowstone national park in 1997 for an entire summer that was so exciting what were you doing i was actually i started out cleaning rooms but i’m a crazy extroverted person so like you know cleaning rooms all day was so boring so eventually i moved over to doing um doing uh checking people in at the front desk at old faithful inn in yellowstone national park oh that’s wonderful yes sir and would you like to tell us a little bit about your family yeah so i’ve got three kids um they’re 15 and 17 um and i have them a lot and then i also am dating a girl with two five-year-old twins so it’s um thinking about maybe doing the whole kid thing all over again but it’s it’s fun you know this is a way to give back so a large group and um you care to sh oh sorry about that do you care to share any other information with us oh that’s it all the time so let’s just we’ll go into it okay so why don’t we just get into your presentation okay sounds good i’m gonna share my screen um can you stop sharing damon so i can share i’ve got a presentation that i’m going to be jumping into okay so let me just make sure you can see um so can you see this there can everybody see the screen okay so they’re today we’re going to be talking about local seo and um you know my background for those of you guys that don’t know is that you know i have a background in graphic design i started creating websites on the side i had a sales job for a number of years so i was working the sales job during the day and in the evenings i would just start teaching myself how google works i was just so interested in google and so by 2008 i had a website that was generating twenty thousand dollars a business a month um for amazon but i was making about three or four k from it so i decided to create my company push leads in 2012 and go into business full-time so it’s been a blast it’s been an adventure you know steve jobs says if you do what you love you’ll never know work another day in your life so i actually cried at that when he i saw this presentation he made to stanford students back in 2005 and it resonated with me at such a level that i was like wow crying i was like man this is what i love um so anyway i’m one of those men that’s not afraid to cry i mean what um but anyway um and so today though we’re going to talk about local seo and specifically you know a lot of us know about local seo you know if your business is showing up what we call the maps pack and you can course create your business listing on your own there’s things you can do to make that show up higher in google so bonnie if somebody’s searching for a massage therapist and they find you they’re going to call you right they’re going to go to your website and so it’s super important for local businesses to have this um and today we’re going to talk essentially um local seo is essentially just different tweaks you could make to your business listing and your website to show up higher in maps um i actually had someone call me yesterday and he was like hey what happens if i delete my website from the business listing he found me on google and he’s an hour away um so i’ve been doing so much local seo then now it’s spilling over into tennessee i have no idea what’s going on with that but anyway it was pretty interesting so more more people will call you i’m getting about two or three calls a week now because i’ve been doing so much of it um so what i’m going to do is just give you kind guys kind of the major highlights here and we’re gonna look at screen shares and then um and then answer any questions but really you’re finding out what people are looking for um you’re adding that information into your your profile your business profile and then you’re doing things on your website and then the last thing is you’re connecting other websites to your website so i’m just going to explain this in plain english not use a lot of technical jargon because i really don’t believe that that really helps right using complicated words so step one is finding keywords and this keyword is just somebody searching for something in google right so if it’s bonnie it would be a massage therapist for me it would be seo services there’s a tool called ubersuggest that helps you find keywords i’ll show you that tool in a second and you could use that to find keywords so um just keep talking about bonnie for some reason i must need a massage but bonnie can make a list of you know massage therapists astral massage we’ve do this we’ve done this before when i’ve talked to bonnie you can make a list of a handful of search phrases and if you want to you could even think about hey i want you make a plan for using these keywords these search phrases on your site google is like a six year old you know sick with six year olds five-year-olds i’m dating a girl with five-year-old who has five-year-olds you have to be direct with the five-year-old right hey don’t put the cucumber in your bed my uh sister has um kids that are young don’t put binoculars on the chicken like she literally said that yesterday don’t put the binoculars on the chicken with google you have to say i’m a massage therapist you have to be direct and it’s just not super intelligent sorry google if you’re listening but eventually it will be but now you have to be direct so if you tell google i’m a massage therapist um here’s a page that says asheville massage therapy google loves that stuff you have to be direct don’t put the binoculars on the chicken um okay so this is uber suggests and you essentially just put in a keyword in here so what i did in this example is i put seo service and i was just like you know that’s the keyword there um and that and then it shows what’s called related keywords services seo service for small business seo services near me so you can create this uh you can get a handful of search phrases like this without paying for anything of course you can meet with me and i can give you a whole bunch of keywords as well um but that’s the first step the second step is set up your your google my business profile and what this basically means is that on your profile your profile has words on it right you know going back to massage therapist if bonnie puts asheville massage therapist on her profile that’s going to send out signals that google loves right you’re being direct to google and you can fill out categories um you can select categories and descriptions when you’re setting up a profile you can add secondary categories i’ll show you what i’m talking about that and you can fill out your really what it comes down to is the more you give google the much more google lives it don’t put that cucumber in your bed right i mean google you just got to be direct with google um and you can also send people your review link can get more five star reviews if you respond your view reviews that’s awesome too google really likes a conversation happening and you can also post on your you can do weekly posts on your google my business profile so we just brought on citrus solutions and one of the things we’ll be doing is posting once a week on the profile that links to a blog post on the site that keaton is going to be writing yay so anyway um all of this is all connected um you can add pictures as well um here’s an example of my business profile see here see all these categories here look at that this is the info tab and we’re talking about categories um you can have up to 10 of those so if you add more in there and search for any kind of service you might offer google loves that and that’s going to show make your show higher so if i don’t have website designer or web hosting company or these other ones google is not going to i’m not as many people are going to find me does that make sense you’re just essentially selecting categories this is what’s called the services tab and um this is you can add descriptions to your services and this is where you can put keywords in there see here it says seo services push lead is a local asheville seo company right that’s a keyword right there right so sprinkling keywords where it makes sense in your descriptions helps you show up higher and guess what no one does any of this generally people don’t do any of this at all so if you do some of what i’m talking about um you’re gonna be like a superstar you’re not even gonna need me it’s so perfect um the third step is focus on your website on my website on the home page i have this thing here it’s called a lead magnet you could put in your website in a search phrase and it will tell you in google where you are it’ll sort of tell you details improve your website um and so this is a page on my site here well let me show you the page in a second but on your site if you once you know your keyword so massage therapist right for bonnie she could make pages on recite or hire me to do that or anyone and you can use that keywords and headings on your site and you can also sprinkle those keywords into other areas of your site on that page right um you could even have fun and then upload a video to youtube you can put titles um of your actual massage therapist right and then put that video on your page um you can do other things like writing a compelling title in the description national massage therapist astronaut north carolina massage therapist again you have to be direct with google they’re like a five-year-old you gotta be direct with them and then you can even link to that page from other pages in their sites so these are things you can do if you i know i’m hitting this really fast so if you want to do a one-to-one with me i’ll explain this in plain english and show you examples but here’s a page on my site where um you know these are headlines we call these eight headers and notice here that i’ve got keywords affordable seo services affordable seo services that’s a page on my site where i have um i have the keyword in headings here and also in the content again you’re just telling google this is what i care about making pages like this is like no one does this if you do this it’s like you’re going to be a superstar and so that’s that one and the last step is building citations citations are basically google really likes to see consistency across your website and your business okay what and when we whenever somebody talks about your business from a local perspective perspective we call that citations okay it’s not a ticket it’s essentially just whenever anybody talks about your business for example when you make a page on facebook where you talk about your business and ask what’s the name of your business what’s the address what’s your phone number that’s called a citation so it’s a really weird word for something that’s basically something simple your name address and phone number and the goal is to not have is you want essentially you want to have a lot of citations but you also want them to be consistent so they all need to have the same name address and phone number like if you if i have a suite and i put suite number 203 and then another citation i put suite number 504 and google doesn’t like that again you got to be direct with google the five-year-old so when you have that all consistent that makes a difference and so you can create citations in different places and again no one does this so if you do some of this i guarantee you bonnie no one does this as you know with massage therapists so if you do some of this um you’re muted but it’s okay if you do some of this or any of this you’ll be like a superstar um these are different places you can build citations we all make a facebook page for our business yelp is one you’ve probably heard of you
