We’ll show you exactly how YouTube videos appear in Google search and give you a step -by -step checklist for your roofing, remodeling, or restoration company. This is not theory. On our PushLeads YouTube channel, Google search drove 69.1% of all outside views over a 28 -day stretch in fall, 2026, 7 out of every 10 outside viewers found us from Google. We’ll show you the proof, what Google says to do, how AI search fits in, and the exact videos to film first.

0:31 Who Jeremy Is and Why This Matters
Quick intro before we go deeper. I’m Jeremy Ashburn, founder of PushLeads, and my whole job is getting roofing, remodeling, and restoration company owners found on Google. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, long before AI made it fashionable. What we’re doing in this video is do YouTube videos show up in Google search.

This is part of our AI search visibility guide.

0:50 Four Things to Set Up Before You Film
Before you film, get four things in place. First, a YouTube channel, even zero subscribers can rank in Google and get cited by AI tools. Second, a website you can add pages to because every video needs a matching page. Third, write down every question customers ask, have your office manager and estimators track them for two weeks. Fourth, grab a phone or basic camera, narrated slide videos work fine,

no film crew needed, here is proof from our own channel, September 29th to October 26th, 2026. Google search drove 69 .1% of external views, 210 of 304. Those viewers watch 7.7 of 11.1 total outside watch hours, average view time, two minutes and 11 seconds. That is someone who typed a question into Google, found our video, and watched it. But the trend rose from roughly two to five views per day at the start to 26 in a single day by the end.

1:55 Choosing the Right Video Topics
Step one, choose the right topics, start with cost questions. How much does a roof replacement cost in my city is the most searched question in every trade and most contractors refuse to answer it? That is your opening. Next, film the repair or replace decision, the insurance claim process, what day one through day three of your job looks like, how to pick a contractor and spot red flags, and at least one reel before and after walk through. Each is a search already happening in your market right now.

2:27 Setting Up Each Video Before You Record
Step two, set up each video before you hit record. Pick one question per video, one clear question beats covering everything every time. Use the homeowner’s exact words in your title. How much does a new roof cost will outperform residential reroofing investment considerations in search? Keep the title under 70 characters, plan five to eight sections before filming. Each becomes a chapter with a timestamp and those chapters are how Google shows key moments directly in search results. On camera, three things matter most. Answer the question in the first 30 seconds. Long intros lose viewers before they hear the answer. Say your service and city out loud, phrases like here in Asheville or for homes in Northwest Arkansas, put local words into your captions and transcript and which Google reads and matches to local searches, aim for six to 15 minutes long enough to cover the question fully and add meaningful chapters. Otterly AI found most videos cited by AI tools in 2026 ran between five and 20 minutes.

3:34 Post-Upload Steps Description Chapters Captions
Step three happens right after upload. Write a real description, two or three paragraphs summarizing the answer, naming your service area and linking to the matching page on your website. Add chapters with timestamp starting at zero colon zero zero labeled the way a homeowner would search. Google says it prioritizes key moments you set yourself over anything it detects automatically. Check your auto generated captions and fix wrong words, especially your business name, product names and local place names.

4:03 Build the Matching Page on Your Website
Step four, build the matching page on your website. The step most contractors skip. Google explicitly recommends a standalone page for each video with a unique title and description embed the video, add video object structure data markup and put a cleaned up transcript on the page so Google and AI tools can read the full answer without playing the video. Finally, cut a 30 second clip and post it to your Google Business Profile. Profile videos can be up to 30 seconds, 75 megabytes and 720p or higher.

4:35 Why Small Channels Compete in AI Search
Here is why small channels can compete in AI search. Otterly AI studied more than 100 million AI citations in early 2026 and found 40.83% of YouTube videos cited had fewer than 1,000 views. The correlation between view count and being cited was negative 0.03, essentially zero. RF’s found YouTube was the most cited website in Google’s AI overviews in September, 2026. At 22.9% of citations and more than 1.7 million YouTube pages cited across 3 million US searches. A clear answer to the right question decides whether you get found a not subscriber count. Not every AI tool treats video the same per Otterly AI’s 2026 data Perplexity accounted for 38.7% of YouTube citations, Google AI overviews 36 .6% and Google AI mode 19.6%, nearly all of the YouTube citations in the study. ChatGPT was just 4.4%, Microsoft co -pilot half a percent, video is your strongest play for Google and Perplexity.

5:44 Video Alone vs Video Plus Page
For ChatGPT and co -pilot, the transcript text on your website page does more of the work, exactly why we put the full transcript on every page alongside the video. A video alone can show up as a Google video result, earn key moments with chapters, and get cited in AI overviews. But it rarely gets cited by ChatGPT or co -pilot, has no form to capture the lead, and keeps viewers on YouTube. Pair that video with a dedicated page, transcript, and structured data, and the page can rank in regular Google results. Both assets can be cited in AI tools, the text covers ChatGPT and co -pilot, and a former phone number turns views into leads. SEMrush data showed Google’s video carousel dropped from just over 30 % to under 20% of track searches in August 2026. A page keeps you visible no matter which format Google favors.

6:43 Four Monthly Checks to Measure Results
Step five, measure with four monthly checks. In YouTube Studio, go to analytics, advanced mode, traffic source, external, watch Google Search grow and look for AI tools like Claude, AI and Perplexity, AI appearing. In Google Search Console, watch impressions and clicks rise on your video pages. Use call tracking or form tags on video pages to know which pages produce leads, not just new customers, how they found you out. I watched your video is the single best answer you can get.

7:17 90-Day Action Plan to Get Started
The 90 -day plan, weeks one and two, list your top 12 customer questions, and film your first two videos. Approving searches already coming in on sales calls, weeks three through six, publish two videos per month, embed each on a matching page with transcript and video object markup, and post a 30 -second clip to your Google Business Profile, week seven through 12, maintain the pace and double down on topics getting the most Google views, 12 videos over six months is enough to know whether it works in your market. Most contractors who stick with it never go back to having no video at all. If you are a roofing, remodeling, or restoration company and want to know exactly where you show up in Google and AI search today, we will show you, we check where you appear, where your competitors appear, and which customer questions nobody in your market is answering yet.
